 SAMPLE RECIPE FROM THE BOOK:
Decadent Chocolate Mousse with Berries
--Makes 6 servings
--(Serving Size 1/2 cup mousse with 1/4 cup berries)
--Prep Time 30 minutes
--Chill Time 2 hours

Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
2 1/4 cups nonfat milk or original/plain soy milk
1 egg
1 ounce dark chocolate, finely chopped
1 teaspoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup whipping cream
1 1/2 cups assorted fresh berries (such as raspberries, blackberries, cherries, and/or sliced strawberries)
1/2 ounce dark chocolate, chopped or made into curls

Directions:
--In a medium saucepan combine sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, espresso powder, and salt. Gradually whisk in milk. Cook and stir over medium heat for 9 to 11 minutes or until large bubbles are just starting to break the surface of the pudding (pudding will be thick, so to check for bubbles stop stirring for 3 to 4 seconds). Reduce the heat to low and cook and stir for 2 minutes more. Remove from the heat.

--In a medium bowl lightly beat the egg. Gradually whisk about 1/2 cup of the hot milk mixture into the egg. Add all the egg mixture along with the 1 ounce chopped chocolate into the saucepan with the rest of the pudding.

--Cook and stir over medium-low heat for 30 seconds to 11/2 minutes or until large bubbles are just starting to break the surface of the pudding (again, pudding will be thick so stop stirring for a few seconds to check for bubbles). Cook and stir over medium-low heat for 2 minutes more.

--Remove from the heat and stir in the butter and vanilla.

--Place the saucepan of pudding in a large bowl half-filled with ice water. Stir the pudding for 1 to 2 minutes to cool it quickly. Transfer the pudding to a large bowl. Cover the surface of the pudding with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours or until well chilled.

--Place whipping cream in a medium chilled bowl. Whisk or beat with a rotary beater until thick, soft peaks form. Gently fold half of the whipped cream into the chilled pudding. Gently fold in the remaining whipped cream.

--Divide mousse among six dessert dishes. Top with berries and garnish with chocolate.

--Try it with a twist: Fiery Chocolate Mousse with Berries Prepare as directed above except add 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper to the pudding in Step 1 with the salt.

LET'S GET COZY: QUILT OR INNOCENCE - A PREVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

Posted on 9:01 PM by Unknown
 GIVEAWAY ENDED
QUILT OR INNOCENCE
A Southern Quilting Mystery
First in a New Series!
BY ELIZABETH CRAIG

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Retired folk art curator Beatrice Coleman knows everything there is to know about quilts, except how to make them. But with her recent move to Dapple Hills, North Carolina, she’s learning all sorts of new things—including how to solve a murder…

As the newest member of the Village Quilters Guild, Beatrice has a lot of gossip to catch up on—especially with the Patchwork Cottage quilt shop about to close. It seems that Judith, the landlord everyone loves to hate, wants to raise the rent, despite being a quilter herself…

But when Judith is found dead, the harmless gossip becomes an intricate patchwork of mischievous motives. And it’s up to Beatrice’s expert eye to decipher the pattern and catch the killer, before her life gets sewn up for good.
Includes quilting tips!

AN EXCERPT FROM QUILT OR INNOCENCE:
Chapter 1

“I’ve come to rescue you,” said the wild-looking woman at Beatrice’s front door.

Beatrice, a recently retired art museum curator, gaped at the woman, completely flabbergasted. She certainly didn’t need rescuing. In fact, she’d just brewed a relaxing cup of herbal tea to celebrate the fact that there were only ten more moving boxes to unpack in her new cottage.

Besides, who’d want to be rescued by this woman, even if rescuing were in order? She looked like she needed rescuing herself . . . with her brightly colored, mismatched clothes and disorganized gray braid hanging to her waist. Beatrice made up her mind to briskly and firmly shut the door and try out the new bolts and chains and the alarm system . . . but then the woman held out her hand.

“I’m Meadow. Your next-door neighbor. Welcome to Dappled Hills!”
Beatrice managed a smile and a handshake. She’d wondered who lived in the odd converted barn next to her country cottage.....

A WELCOME LETTER FROM THE AUTHOR IN THE RECENT BERKLEY PRIME CRIME OBSIDIAN MYSTERY NEWSLETTER:
A Letter from Elizabeth Craig

Dear Reader,

There’s just something about the mountains of North Carolina that recharges you.

My family and I love visiting Blowing Rock, North Carolina, to escape from our busy lives in the suburbs of Charlotte. There we eat at amazing restaurants, polish off our meal with dessert at the ice cream parlor, shop, and hike up trails to feast our eyes on the Blue Ridge mountains’ beautiful vistas.

I decided to base my Southern Quilting mysteries in a town very much like Blowing Rock—the fictional Dappled Hills, North Carolina. The first book, QUILT OR INNOCENCE, releases June 5th.

Dappled Hills, like Blowing Rock, is a very peaceful place. And my protagonist, Beatrice Coleman, is a woman who needs to spend some time relaxing...she has a tough time sitting still. She’s worked at a fast-pace for years as the curator for a folk art museum in Atlanta, and now she’s come to a screeching stop with her retirement. She thought she’d love the slow pace of retirement...and the slow pace of Dappled Hills. But it’s more of an adjustment than she thought. She’s surprised that she almost misses the sounds of the city...and perhaps the comfort of her familiar routine.

Fortunately, there’s an instant distraction. Non-quilter Beatrice is somehow drafted into the Village Quilters guild and finds that quilting and the eccentric women in the guild help keep things in Dappled Hills interesting. Beatrice learns that quilting isn’t the staid activity she’d always suspected it might be—and that the quilters are warmly welcoming and love sharing craft tips (quilting tips are included in the book).

One of Beatrice’s neighbors is a fabulous—and generous—cook who loves bringing Beatrice a little Southern comfort in the form of mouth-watering meals (recipes are also included). This is a good thing, since Beatrice has fallen out of the habit of cooking—it’s not quite as much fun cooking for one.

Another of Beatrice’s new neighbors goes beyond eccentric and into the realm of decidedly unpleasant. She’s quickly dispatched by someone with murderous intent...and Beatrice finds herself drawn into the investigation. She’d just started to relax and enjoy her life in the small town—and now she’s ready to restore life in the village to its gentle pace.

Welcome to Dappled Hills, North Carolina. Hope you’ll enjoy your stay.

ARE YOU LISTENING? THE SINS OF THE FATHER: A JEFFREY ARCHER AUDIO BOOK REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

Posted on 9:01 PM by Unknown
WELCOME TO BOOKIN' WITH BINGO'S"
ARE YOU LISTENING? DAY"
I AM EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE TODAY'S
AUDIO BOOK CHOICE...
GIVEAWAY ENDED
THE SINS OF THE FATHER
Next in THE CLIFTON CHRONICLES Series
BY JEFFREY ARCHER
Read by Alex Jennings and Emilia Fox

ABOUT THE BOOK:
With war between Britian and Germany on the immediate horizon, Harry Clifton has joined the merchant marines to escape long buried family secrets that have just come to light. And it isn't long before war is upon them. On the very day that Britain declares war on Germany, a U-boat sinks Harry's ship. While recovering on the SS Kansas Star, a passing American cruise liner, Harry seizes on the chance to escape his tangled past by stealing the identity of an American killed in the explosion.
But upon landing in America, he quickly finds how mistaken he was when he--as Tom Bradshaw--is arrested for murder. Without any way of knowing the details of the charges, or of contacting his family across the Atlantic, or of even proving that he is anyone other than Bradshaw, Harry Clifton is trapped behind bars and chained to a past that is far worst than the one he had hoped to escape.

On the heels of the international bestseller Only Time Will Tell, Jeffrey Archer picks up the sweeping story where he left off with Sins of the Father, the next installment Archer's most ambitious series.

AN EXCERPT FROM THE SINS OF THE FATHER:
“MY NAME IS Harry Clifton.”
“Sure, and I’m Babe Ruth,” said Detective Kolowski as he lit a cigarette.
“No,” said Harry, “you don’t understand, there’s been a terrible mistake. I’m Harry Clifton, an Englishman from Bristol. I served on the same ship as Tom Bradshaw.”
“Save it for your lawyer,” said the detective, exhaling deeply and filling the small cell with a cloud of smoke.
“I don’t have a lawyer,” protested Harry.
“If I was in the trouble you’re in, kid, I’d consider having Sefton Jelks on my side to be about my only hope.”
“Who’s Sefton Jelks?”
“You may not have heard of the sharpest lawyer in New York,” said the detective as he blew out another plume of smoke, “but he has an appointment to see you at nine o’clock tomorrow morning, and Jelks don’t leave his office unless his bill has been paid in advance.”
“But—” began Harry, as Kolowski banged the palm of his hand on the cell door.
“So when Jelks turns up tomorrow morning,” Kolowski continued, ignoring Harry’s interruption, “you’d better come up with a more convincing story than we’ve arrested the wrong man. You told the immigration officer that you were Tom Bradshaw, and if it was good enough for him, it’s going to be good enough for the judge.”
The cell door swung open, but not before the detective had exhaled another plume of smoke that made Harry cough. Kolowski stepped out into the corridor without another word and slammed the door behind him. Harry collapsed on to a bunk that was attached to the wall and rested his head on a brick-hard pillow. He looked up at the ceiling and began to think about how he’d ended up in a police cell on the other side of the world on a murder charge.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
JEFFREY ARCHER, whose novels and short stories include Paths of Glory, A Prisoner of Birth, and Kane and Abel, has topped the bestseller lists around the world, with sales of more than 135 million copies. Only Time Will Tell, his recent novel and the first in The Clifton Chronicles, was a New York Times bestseller. He is married with two sons, and lives in London and Cambridge.

Jeffrey Archer firmly established himself as a literary force with the publication of his first novel, Not A Penny More, Not A Penny Less, in 1975. Now, 35 years later, Jeffrey continues to defy his critics and delight his fans. His most recent collection of short stories, And Thereby Hangs a Tale, is now available in paperback. He is currently working on a five-part series of novels entitled The Clifton Chronicles.

In addition to his books and short stories, Jeffrey also turned his storytelling talents to The Gospel According to Judas, by Benjamin Iscariot, written in collaboration with eminent Australian biblical scholar, Professor Francis J Moloney. This thought-provoking retelling of the Judas Iscariot story offered a unique account of Christ's betrayer and received critical acclaim.

HOW MANY OTHER BOOKS BY JEFFREY ARCHER HAVE YOU READ?

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:
As the second book in Jeffrey Archer’s The Clifton Chronicles, THE SINS OF THE FATHER, is a wonderful war time romance in which you are driven to turn pages in order to see if good will indeed conquer evil. Although it can be a stand alone novel, it does make for a better read if you have read ONLY TIME WILL TELL with all its background and details.

The story begins as England is about to enter into war with Germany. While most of the people prepare to defend their country, the dreadful Hugo Barrington seems to think it is not his problem! Hugo’s spoiled by the wealth his family amassed over the years as they established the Barrington Shipping Line.  This well respected company is changed when Hugo, the playboy, takes over. The waters are muddied when Hugo’s daughter, Emma, who is in love with Harry Clifton, plans to marry him. But the question of Harry’s true heritage arises, and since Hugo Barrington could be his biological father, Clifton decides to join the Merchant Marines and spare Emma any more heartache. When the ship Harry is on is attacked on its way to America, he seizes the opportunity and takes on the new identity of a shipmate who drowned.

Sailing into America as Tom Bradshaw, little does Harry realize he now has a whole new set of problems. Harry winds up in jail serving out the time that Tom Bradshaw was to have done. Meanwhile, Emma doesn’t believe that Harry could be dead. Her resolve is strengthened by the fact that she has given birth to Harry’s son Sebastian, and so heads to America in search of him.

Archer’s book once again is divided into sections dealing with the different characters and time periods. Told through the diverse viewpoints of Jeffrey Archer’s well developed and fascinating characters, it is easy to see why the story keeps your attention. As this part of The Clifton Chronicles ends, so does World War II and readers must now wait once again for the next installment to learn how the cliff hanger ending turns out!

LET'S GET COZY: VISION IMPOSSIBLE - A PREVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

Posted on 9:01 PM by Unknown
 GIVEAWAY ENDED
VISION IMPOSSIBLE
A Psychic Eye Mystery
BY VICTORIA LAURIE

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Abigail Cooper makes a living as a psychic, using her vision to stop others from making a killing on murder. Now, as the FBI’s newest Civilian Profiler, she can add something else to her resume—spy.

FROM PSYCHIC EYE TO PSYCHIC SPY

The CIA and Air Force need Abby Cooper’s help. The military has developed a software surveillance system able to lock onto any individual’s unique aura. The problem is, the drone carrying the software has gone missing, and the implications to national security could be devastating.

To get the drone back, Uncle Sam must recruit a special agent—a very special agent in the form of professional psychic, Abigail Cooper. With her fiancĂ© Dutch Rivers by her side, Abby is eager to do her patriotic duty and stop the criminals before they set their diabolical plan into motion. But the deeper Abby gets involved in counter intelligence, the more she makes herself a prime target…

AN EXCERPT FROM VISION IMPOSSIBLE:
Chapter One

For the record, burying a dead body is a lot more work than it looks like on TV.

Also for the record, burying a dead body while wearing a clingy cocktail dress and heels, and in the pouring rain—darn near impossible. Of course, I had help, which could be why we eventually got our dearly departed dude six feet under. (Okay, so maybe it was more like two feet under, but who’s really measuring at that point?)

“I think that’s good,” said my oh-so-gorgeous fiancĂ© as he patted down the mud, leaves, and scrub covering our dead guy.

“Thank God,” I said, holding my hands palms up to let the rain wash some of the mud off. And that’s when I realized my engagement ring had slipped off. “Son of a beast!” I gasped. (Yes, I’m still not swearing, which, at times, proves most inconvenient.)

“What?” asked my sweetie.

Before answering him, I dropped to all fours and began to feel around frantically in the mud. “My ring! I’ve lost my ring!”
