ABOUT THE BOOK:

Gorgeous. Fearless. Dangerous. They're the kind of girls you envy; the kind of girls you want to hate. Strangers in town for the summer, Penn, Lexi and Thea have caught everyone's attention—but it’s Gemma who’s attracted theirs.  She’s the one they’ve chosen to be part of their group.
Gemma seems to have it all—she’s carefree, pretty, and falling in love with Alex, the boy next door.  He’s always been just a friend, but this summer they’ve taken their relationship to the next level, and now there’s no going back.  Then one night, Gemma’s ordinary life changes forever.  She’s taking a late night swim under the stars when she finds Penn, Lexi and Thea partying on the cove.  They invite her to join them, and the next morning she wakes up on the beach feeling groggy and sick, knowing something is different.

Suddenly Gemma is stronger, faster, and more beautiful than ever. But her new powers come with a terrifying price.  And as she uncovers the truth, she’s is forced to choose between staying with those she loves—or entering a new world brimming with dark hungers and unimaginable secrets.

ARE YOU LISTENING? WHEN IN DOUBT, ADD BUTTER: A REVIEW AND SPEEDY GIVEAWAY

Posted on 9:01 PM by Unknown
WELCOME TO BOOKIN' WITH BINGO'S"
ARE YOU LISTENING? DAY"

I AM EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE TODAY'S

AUDIO BOOK CHOICE...

 GIVEAWAY ENDED
WHEN IN DOUBT, ADD BUTTER
BY BETH HARBISON
READ BY ORLAGH CASSIDY

ABOUT THE BOOK:
From the New York Times bestselling author of Shoe Addicts Anonymous and Always Something There to Remind Me, When in Doubt, Add Butter by Beth Harbison a delicious new novel about the search for true love and all the ingredients that go into it.

As far as Gemma is concerned, her days of dating are over. In fact, it’s her job to cater other peoples’ dates, and that’s just fine by her. At thirty-seven, she has her own business, working as a private chef, and her life feels full and secure. She’s got six steady clients that keep her hands full.

There’s Lex, the fussy but fabulous department store owner who loves Oysters Rockefeller and 1950s comfort food; Willa, who needs to lose weight under doctor’s orders but still believes butter makes everything better; a colorful family who may or may not be part of the Russian mob; an ĂĽberwealthy Georgetown family; the picture-perfect Van Houghtens, whose matriarch is “allergic to everything”; and finally, a man she calls “Mr. Tuesday,” whom she has never met but who she is strangely drawn to.

For Gemma, cooking is predictable. Recipes are certain. Use good ingredients, follow the directions, and you are assured success. Life, on the other hand, is full of variables. So when Gemma’s takes an unexpected turn on a road she always thought was straight and narrow, she must face her past and move on in ways she never would have imagined. Because sometimes in life, all you need is a little hope, a lot of courage, and---oh yes---butter.

EXCERPT FROM WHEN IN DOUBT, ADD BUTTER:
Chapter 1

When I was twelve, a fortune-teller at the Herbert Hoover Junior High School carnival said to me: “Gemma Craig, you listen to me. Do not get married. Ever. If you do, you’ll end up cooking for a man who’d rather eat at McDonald’s; doing laundry for a man who sweats like a rabid pig, then criticizes you for not turning his T-shirts right side out; and cleaning the bathroom floor after a man whose aim is so bad, he can’t hit a hole the size of a watermelon—”

This man sounded disgusting.

“—make your own money and be independent. Having kids is fine, but get married and you will be miserable for the rest of your life. I promise you, the rest of your life.”

This chilling prediction stayed with me long after I realized that the fortune-teller was, in fact, Mrs. Rooks, the PTA president and neighbor who always gave out full-sized 3 Musketeers bars on Halloween, and that her husband had left her that very morning for a clichĂ©: a young, vapid, blond bombshell. Mrs. Rooks had four kids, and at the time, I thought of her as really old, and I didn’t quite get why she cared so much if she was married anymore or not.

She was thirty-seven.

I was thirty-seven last year.

But for the most part, I have followed that sage wisdom she imparted, whether it came from a place of deep inspiration or, maybe, from a place of bitter day drunkenness. It had an impact on me either way.

ABOUT THE NARRATOR:
Orlagh Cassidy is the winner of the 2009 Best Voice in Children & Family Listening for the audiobook It’s Time to Sleep, My Love & On the Night You Were Born.  She also won an award in 2008 for Best Voice in Mystery & Suspense.  She’s narrated for Jacqueline Winspear, James Patterson, Erica Spindler, and Frank Herbert, among others.

She is "Doris Wolfe" on The Guiding Light and her other television appearances include Sex and the City, Law & Order, Law and Order SVU, and Murder One.  She also appeared in the films Purple Violets, Spinning into Butter, and Definitely, Maybe.

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW:
Beth Harbison’s WHEN IN DOUBT, ADD BUTTER is a fluffy, flavorful, fun novel just right for listening to at this time of the year with the never-ending heat. It also is a pleasure as the well developed main character, Gemma Craig, is a surprise in what originally might be thought of as just some light chick-lit. In my opinion, Harbison is known for her best sellers because she can combine the fun elements of a light read with substance to hold the reader’s interest.

Gemma is in her late 30s and is a personal chef in Washington, D.C. Her life is full with her regular customers during the week and special events on weekends. The characters for Monday through Friday are a story in themselves as they are so well described and not only add humor but heart to the story. It is easy to see that Gemma really loves her work. She works hard and is dedicated to serving quality food even though some of her clients make that hard with their bizarre requests.

All is fine until Gemma goes pretty much against her norm and has a one night stand that she later can’t stop thinking about. Nor can she find his number! When one of her regular clients takes an innocent (and hilarious- can you say peacock?) incident and fires Gemma, the story takes an unexpected twist. Not only is that one day of work Gemma can’t afford to be without, but the spiteful customer is spreading rumors that are causing Gemma loss of business. On top of this, Gemma’s personal life takes a VERY startling turn!

The fun-to-listen-to, grab-you-from-the-start, WHEN IN DOUBT, ADD BUTTER is just the right book to entertain and keep a reader happily involved. With the solidly written and fleshed out main character, readers will not only relate but understand her dilemma as they learn more about her past and how she has learned to adapt to it. The fabulous food Gemma serves is as appetizing as Beth Harbison’s latest novel, WHEN IN DOUBT, ADD BUTTER. Don’t miss this one!

THE INN AT ROSE HARBOR
A Random House Audio Book
Read by Lorelei King
BY DEBBIE MACOMBER
REMINDER ABOUT THE BOOK:
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber comes a heartwarming new series based in the Pacific Northwest town of Cedar Cove, where a charming cast of characters finds love, forgiveness, and renewal behind the doors of the cozy Rose Harbor Inn.

Jo Marie Rose first arrives in Cedar Cove seeking a sense of peace and a fresh start. Coping with the death of her husband, she purchases a local bed-and-breakfast—the newly christened Rose Harbor Inn—ready to begin her life anew. Yet the inn holds more surprises than Jo Marie can imagine.

Her first guest is Joshua Weaver, who has come home to care for his ailing stepfather. The two have never seen eye to eye, and Joshua has little hope that they can reconcile their differences. But a long-lost acquaintance from Joshua’s high school days proves to him that forgiveness is never out of reach and love can bloom even where it’s least expected.

The other guest is Abby Kincaid, who has returned to Cedar Cove to attend her brother’s wedding. Back for the first time in twenty years, she almost wishes she hadn’t come, the picturesque town harboring painful memories from her past. And while Abby reconnects with family and old friends, she realizes she can only move on if she truly allows herself to let go.

A touching novel of life’s grand possibilities and the heart’s ability to heal, The Inn at Rose Harbor is a welcome introduction to an unforgettable set of friends.

AN EXCERPT FROM THE INN AT ROSE HARBOR:
Chapter 1

Last night I dreamed of Paul.

He’s never far from my thoughts—not a day passes when he isn’t with me—but he hasn’t been in my dreams until now.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Debbie Macomber, the author of Hannah’s List, 1022 Evergreen Place, Summer on Blossom Street, 92 Pacific Boulevard, and Twenty Wishes, is a leading voice in women’s fiction. Three of her novels have scored the #1 slot on the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. Debbie Macomber’s Mrs. Miracle was Hallmark Channel’s top-watched movie for 2009. This prolific author has more than 140 million copies of her books in print worldwide.
MY THOUGHTS/PREVIEW:
Debbie Macomber has a new series and that is exciting news! The first in the series is THE INN AT ROSE HARBOR which follows in the best selling tradition of Debbie Macomber and her delightful novels. Set once more in Cedar Cove that is modeled after Debbie’s own hometown, the series starts out centering on a recent widow. Jo Marie Rose’s husband died in the war in Afghanistan and now in her late 30s she hopes to get a new lease on life and try to heal from her tragic loss.

Jo Marie buys a bed-and-breakfast and believes her husband would have approved. This should keep her busy while also allowing her to interact with new people and not stay shut away. The inn’s first guest is one Joshua Weaver. He has come back to Cedar Cove to gather his mother’s things since she passed away. They mean a lot to him and he braves seeing his stepfather to do it. Never having had a positive relationship, the two rarely see eye-to-eye. However, finding that his stepfather is battling a serious illness on his own, Joshua feels he must find a way to get along with him. Perhaps, there is even hope of reconciliation but Joshua doubts that given their past.

Another guest is in town for her brother’s wedding. Abby Kincaid hasn’t been back for at least 10 years having left following a tragic accident where her best friend was killed. Abby has carried that guilt with her all these years and worries how she will be received in town?

Readers of the other Cedar Cove series books will be delighted to see some of those characters making appearances and giving promise of more to come in this series. I found listening to Lorelei King made the book come to life for me in even an easier way then usual. In that these three main characters are dynamic and fully developed, readers instantly become captivated by their lives This theme is a hallmark of Debbie Macomber’s novels.

Filled with the kind of pull on your heartstrings drama, THE INN AT ROSE HARBOR looks like a great place to check in! With inspiration, romance, and some down home fun, the new series is sure to develop a following from this very first installment, and like me, readers are surely asking already, “When will the next book in the series be out?”!

LET'S GET COZY! MURDER BY MOCHA: A REPEAT REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

Posted on 9:00 PM by Unknown
GIVEAWAY ENDED
MURDER BY MOCHA
A Coffehouse Mystery
BY CLEO COYLE
NOW OUT IN MASS MARKET PAPERBACK!
ABOUT THE BOOK:
The national bestselling author of Roast Mortem serves readers a fresh Coffeehouse mystery.

Clare's Village Blend coffee beans are being used to create a new java love potion: a "Mocha Magic Coffee," billed as an aphrodisiac. The product, expected to rake in millions, will be sold exclusively on Aphrodite's Village, one of the most popular online communities for women.

But at its launch, one of the website's editors is murdered. Clare is convinced a bitter killer wants the secret formula. Can she catch who's gone loco for mocha?

This tenth entry in Cleo Coyle's bestselling Coffeehouse Mystery series includes a special bonus section of delectable chocolate recipes!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Cleo Coyle is a resident of Queens, New York. Her Coffeehouse Mystery series is quite a unique hook, that includes recipes, coffee making tips, and fabulous historical facts.

Cleo Coyle is the pen name for Alice Alfonsi, who writes with her husband, Marc Cerasini. This popular married writing team was born and raised in Pittsburgh, met in New York City, and married in Las Vegas. Together they've authored a number of bestselling books. CLEO'S COFFEEHOUSE RECIPE:
A definite bonus to this wonderful cozy series is the recipe section that Cleo Coyle includes. Here is one of her specialty coffee drink recipes she calls...
COPY CAT FRAPPS
Cleo Coyle’s Chilly Cleoccino!
(Iced Cappuccino or Mocha)

Serves: This recipe will make one 8-ounce serving. For a larger drink, or to serve more people, you can easily double, triple, or quadruple it.

INGREDIENTS:
1/3 cup coffee (4 coffee ice cubes)
1/3 cup milk (low fat is fine)
2 teaspoons sugar (or more if you like your drinks sweeter)
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder (for a mocha) whipped cream (optional)

DIRECTIONS:
Step 1: Fill an ice cube tray with leftover coffee and freeze.
Step 2: Remove four coffee ice cubes (per 8-ounce serving) and place in blender.
Step 3: Add milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and (optional) cocoa for an iced mocha frappé.
Step 4: Pulse the blender to chop the coffee ice cubes into fine particles. You can create a very icy drink with small ice chips (like a frozen margarita) or you can run the blender full speed until the mixture is completely liquefied yet still cold and frothy. The drink is delicious either way and a great use for your leftover Joe.

To finish, pour this frosty refresher into a glass mug, top with whipped cream and…Drink with joy ~ Cleo Coyle

MY THOUGHTS/REVIEW: Fairly new to Cozy Mysteries, this is my first book of Cleo Coyle’s Coffeehouse Mystery Series. However, it was such an enjoyable, fun read, I think it won’t be the last. It easily stood on its own because Coyle introduces the characters with great description and you are immediately part of her Coffeehouse blend of human BEANS! When Village Blend Coffee unites with Aphrodite’s Village, a well-known women’s website, their purpose is to launch a new blend of coffee. Its name is Mocha Magic and is supposed to act as an aphrodisiac. This love potion actually works better than they thought and although it would seem to be a good thing, it is really a problem. The popularity of the blend actually becomes dangerous. At the launch of this new blend, one of Aphrodite’s Village's editors is murdered!

The main character of MURDER BY MOCHA is Clare who basically runs Village Blend Coffee and when things boil over, she calls in her “gang” to solve the mocha mystery. She brings a lot of fun to the story and surrounds herself with interesting friends and co-workers. Mike is a policeman and Clare’s boyfriend so naturally a huge help. Matteo is the coffee buyer but also Clare’s ex-husband. Also, the owner of Village Blend is Clare’s former mother-in-law and has a daughter, Joy. Along with the regulars in the Coffee house staff, Clare not only solves this MURDER BY MOCHA but also adds the extra jolt of caffeine in the group that keeps the whole story percolating as pages keep turning. The cream in the coffeehouse mysteries, that something extra for me, is the coffee recipes and yummy things that go well with them. I am sure that “cozy” fans as well as those who enjoy a good, fun mystery will want to join Clare and the gang for an exciting and enjoyable read with MURDER BY MOCHA!
