Watching Michael walk away, Jordan blew out another slow breath before focusing on the water and the disappearing speck, aka Key West, behind them. What was she thinking taking on this assignment as if she had a clue what she was doing? If her boss at the newspaper knew her tastes leaned toward takeout and fried bologna, she was pretty sure she'd no longer be the Globe's culinary expert with her own byline.
And she was positive he wouldn’t have agreed to send her on this cruise to judge food prepared with God-only-knew-what ingredients. Unless her seafood was battered and came with fries, she wanted nothing to do with it.
Feeling like a fraud, she tried to convince herself she wouldn’t be a complete ditz, and then decided, so what if she was? Tomorrow, she and her friends would board the Carnation Queen and cruise for seven days around the Caribbean. A week of fun in the sun, island tours, and frozen margaritas.

As most writers will agree, raising a family and working a full-time day job is a challenge when you’re trying to bring those characters to life. Three beautiful grandchildren later, I wouldn’t change a thing in my journey (Okay, I’d outlaw rejection letters.)
Anyone who has tried to write a book and sell it knows it doesn’t happen overnight. I started off thinking I was a romance writer, but those evil villains kept pushing their way into my stories. I discovered I loved killing off people, then tricking everyone into believing it was the wrong guy. Wait — isn’t that mystery writing? So, I gave in and let the mystery in me take over, although I still love romance and sneak it into every story.
But I didn’t get my happy ending just because I now wrote the kind of books I loved. Oh, contraire! Eight years after completing my first book, I finally sold. I am represented by the awesome Christine Witthohn of Book Cents Literary, LLC, who challenges me to take my writing to the next level.
Married to my high school sweetheart, I’ve lived in the Dallas area over twenty years and now call myself a Texan. (The Yankee in me still demands to be recognized every now and then.) We live seventy miles north of Dallas and have two grown children and a large extended family that remains close. Did I mention my three adorable grandbabies?
Since I grew up with love and laughter, that’s always been the type of book I read. If it can make me laugh or cry plus keep me guessing, I consider it a classic. I love mysteries, always have, always will.

Over the years, she's acted in community theater productions, appeared in television commercials, and crashed a previously all-male fraternity to become one of the first female brothers in Loyola University's Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi. Julie had dreams of becoming a writer, but family, friends, and frat brothers convinced her otherwise. Having held positions as junior officer at a downtown bank, office manager at an architectural firm, and financial advisor at a prestigious wealth management company, she realizes that the business degree was probably a good choice—but fiction is truly her passion. As a huge fan of David Baldacci's, I was excited to receive an audio book copy of his latest best seller, THE FORGOTTEN. I am not finished with THE FORGOTTEN as I just received a new audio player and like to listen to my audio books like that so am still into it. I posted the preview now in case some of you can't wait.
